Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Sandwich

To make a Hawaiian ham and cheese sandwich, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Sliced ham (such as Black Forest ham or honey-glazed ham)
  • Sliced Swiss cheese or provolone cheese
  • Pineapple rings (fresh or canned)
  • Hawaiian sweet rolls or sandwich buns
  • Mayonnaise or mustard (optional)
  • Butter or cooking spray for grilling (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. If desired, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or mustard on the inside of the sandwich buns for added flavor.
  2. Layer the sliced ham and cheese on the bottom half of each sandwich bun. Top with a pineapple ring, ensuring that it covers the entire surface of the sandwich.
  3. Place the top half of each sandwich bun on top of the pineapple ring to form a sandwich.
  4. If using butter, spread a small amount on the outside of each sandwich bun to promote browning and crispiness during grilling. Alternatively, you can use cooking spray to grease the skillet or griddle.
  5. Place the assembled sandwiches in the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet or griddle and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  7. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve warm. Enjoy them as a satisfying lunch or dinner option, or pack them up for a beach picnic or backyard barbecue.
