Rustic Seven-Layer Salad with Creamy Dressing

In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, layer the chopped iceberg lettuce, followed by the thawed peas, chopped red bell pepper, chopped celery, chopped red onion, and shredded cheddar cheese.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, white sugar, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper to make the creamy dressing.
Spread the dressing evenly over the top of the salad, covering all the ingredients.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
Before serving, sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top of the salad and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
