  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk for a few minutes until the milk is absorbed.
    • Add the ground meat, egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to the soaked breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined, but be careful not to overmix as this can make the meatballs tough.
  2. Form the Meatballs:
    • Take a small portion of the meat mixture and flatten it in your hand.
    • Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and wrap the meat around the cheese, forming a ball. Ensure the cheese is completely enclosed to prevent it from leaking out during cooking.
    • Repeat with the remaining meat and cheese.
  3. Cook the Meatballs:
    • Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Brown the meatballs on all sides, then transfer them to a baking sheet.
    • Pour marinara sauce over the browned meatballs and cover with aluminum foil.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the cheese stuffed meatballs hot with extra marinara sauce, over spaghetti, or with a side of crusty bread.
    • Optionally, sprinkle some fresh parsley or additional grated Parmesan on top before serving.

Tips:

  • Cheese Alternatives: While mozzarella is a popular choice due to its melting properties, you can experiment with other cheeses like cheddar, provolone, or even blue cheese for a different flavor profile.
  • Meat Choices: Mixing meats like pork and beef can add depth to the flavor. You could also use ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • Serving Suggestion: These meatballs can also be a great party appetizer. Serve them with toothpicks and a side of marinara dipping sauce.

Cheese Stuffed Meatballs are not only delicious but also a fun way to jazz up your meal. They’re sure to be a hit whether you’re serving them at a family dinner or entertaining guests. Enjoy the melty cheese surprise inside each meatball!
