Southern Style Shrimp and Grits

Ingredients

Grits

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup white grits
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded

Shrimp

  • 4 slices bacon cubed
  • 2 tablespoons garlic minced, about 2-3 cloves
  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped, divided
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice juice from 1 small lemon
  • Hot sauce to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
